Quantitative Virology Research Group
Heng-Chang CHEN, Dr. rer. nat. (Ph.D.)
I am a molecular virologist and data scientist with over eight years of experience. My research focuses on single provirus transcriptomics, separating sense and antisense transcription along with HIV deep latency. In my laboratory, I lay the groundwork for creating multidimensional datasets and deep learning approaches, enabling the quantitative study and modeling of the molecular microenvironment of the latent HIV reservoir. My long-term vision is to utilize such a convergence approach to manifest the translation of basic science findings toward precision medicine and predictive health.
In the meantime, I fancy performing scientific illustration and fine art. One of my interests is to combine science and art. To date, I have held my exhibitions and participated in international Art showcases in Barcelona, London, Berlin...etc. Many of my artworks have been published as cover images in national peer-viewed journals and posters used in national conferences and courses. Moreover, I give lectures and workshops regarding Art, Science, and Data Visualisation for academics and general.
